On Tour with Ashleigh and Morgan July 1

Tuesday, July 1st:Group 8 began their day today at the Ninth Fort, built by Russia for World War I and then used by the Nazis as an extermination site in WWII. The group saw the memorial there and walked around the fort. From there they drove to the site of the Kovno Ghetto, which still contains houses that stood at that time and which people still live in today. This afternoon they began their drive to Bialystok, Poland, where they will spend the night. On the bus, the group discussed tefillah and each USYer set his/her own tefillah goal for the summer, whether it be leading birkat hamazon (the blessing after meals) for the first time, reading Torah, or having an aliyah .
