She's Backkkkk!

I can't tell you how long we have waited for today... who would have thought back on August 30st last year that today would come so quickly, but it has. And just as we waited to hear that she had arrived in Israel we waited and watched for the that Jet Blue Flight to arrive back to Long Beach Airport (yes, I know she left from Burbank).

But it was not a bad drive down for this one time and being able to see all the kids arrive. Now some of them left with Sam Like Ariel and David

but this time we had so many others come back with them: Daniel, Joey, Julia and Corrine.

I honestly don't know how Ashleigh kept herself together she had waited so long for today, for her Sammie to come home and for her world to be complete.

But the moment was finally with us and we saw the kids start to come out of the airport... First Corrine and then Daniel and then after all that waiting Sam came off the plane first she saw Bubbie and stopped for a good long hug and then she saw her ............

the sister that had missed her so badly and that she had missed and get out of her way cause she had a sister to hug (you will have to ask her about the Sombrero)

So lets see can you tell which picture was taken on August 31 when she left and May 29th then she got back.

The last call from Israel

Well it came.... with a tear in her voice she told me that she was at the airport and that they were going to take her phone away.....and in 27 hours we will be in Long Beach waiting to hug her. The end of a wonderful year and the beauty of it was that it ended almost as it started.

Samantha was the first one to receive mail and in meeting her new roommates in room 301 and they end the same way Cynthia, Marlee and Sam in room 301 and just as they were leaving she got the last package that I sent (3 1/2 weeks ago).

So we will wait for her call at 2 in the morning our time and then at noon on Tuesday we will leave for the airport.

Checking out the beach on Sunday

O.k. so it didn't start that way... it was a very nice Sunday afternoon... a little laundry a little painting and then Barry asked if I wanted to go for a ride....oh what a fool he is... Shomer was in the other room but he heard the magic word and started to get very excited. Now as a side note we have started to use some Hebrew words so the dog will not get excited. So Barry thought to himself I will take the dog for a walk and then we would go out.


Oh No Shomer would have none of that they went out side and Shomer sat right next to Barry's car he was not going to miss out on his ride in the car. Barry called to see if I was going to be ready soon because he and Shomer were driving around the block until I was ready. So yes the plans changed and the dog went for a ride in the car to check out the beach. So off we went down Topanga Canyon and then on PCH to Malibu it was windy and cool and well just not a bright sunny day. 69 degrees at 4:00 in the afternoon. On the whole it was a beautiful day in the valley with a high of 78 bright and sunny. But most important is that Barry will remember to use the word tiyul (Hebrew for car ride).

one year to go

Well one year from today we will be having a wedding ..... Now I don't have much to report at this time... except that the beach is a foggy 68 today the valley is sunny and in the high 70's.

I will keep watching because even though the wedding will be on May 25th which is actually Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. So we will check the weather again.

o.k. first you have to peel the wall paper then you can paint all the time you are practicing your Torah Portion... you go Bubbie!

Its a Bitter Sweet thought

it's wind down time in Be'er Sheva... This will be Keheil 1 last shabbat together and then it is off to Jersualem for their last week.... you read that correctly Sammie is on her way home. We (those of us not in Israel) are all very excited and counting down the days...(12) but Sam is torn, she is ready to come home to see us and get started on her next adventure, but she is not ready to part from her new family of Nativ 26.

For those of you who have talked to Barry about family know of his quest for the Family Applbaum. Well a cousin from his past has come to the front.... and to Hebrew High on Sunday May 6th.

It was a wonderful morning of catching up on 20 some years of not seeing each other.

Exchanging notes on who is married to who and who had kids.... and talk of a cousins reunion..... Remember to invite Ari and Na'ama.
